Kent Drever B.S., C.S.C.S., C.P.T.
I have my Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a concentration on Pre-Physical Therapy. I also have my NCSA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, and Animal Flow certification. Kinesiology is the in depth study of human movement and it has always been my goal to leverage this knowledge and my passion for wellness to empower patients and clients to live healthier and more fulfilling lives. As a professional I want to equip individuals with tools that enable them to enhance mental and physical wellness, reconnect with their bodies and find joy in movement, sport, play, and life.
I’ve helped individuals to live healthier and more rewarding lives in a variety of settings all across the spectrum from rehab to performance. I have extensive experience working as a physical therapy aide in the multiple outpatient orthopedic clinics. I have also worked as a personal trainer, run coach and group fitness instructor for Equinox in Orange County.
As a run coach it has always been my philosophy to place quality over quantity and to build strong athletes, not simply brittle runners. This is because for all their hard work runners are typically extremely fragile individuals; tight, unbalanced, weak, and prone to injury. Therefore strength training plays essential role both in my training and the programs of my athletes. A properly implemented strength program is without a doubt an essential tool for protecting against injury and boosting performance for endurance athletes of any age or ability.
When I’m not working you’ll find me practicing what I preach; I’m passionate about my own physical practice as well. Whether I’m trail running, playing with kettlebells, polishing up my handstands, or practicing yoga I’m always looking for sports and hobbies to keep my body and my mind happy. On the weekends you’ll find me backpacking in the back country, at concerts, or road tripping.
